With the AHF BLUEWAVE 300A, Betec Engineering GmbH placed first at the Productivity Award 2008. This award honors outstanding engineering that increases productivity and process reliability in Germany. The companies Rittal and EPLAN awarded the prize, worth 6000 euros, for the third time. Norbert Müller, CEO of Rittal and EPLAN, presented the award to Harald Lautz, manager of Betec Engineering GmbH.
With the Productivity Award, Betec Engineering GmbH joins a group of big names. Past award winners include the companies Audi and Siemens. Out of all the submissions, a jury of experts decided that Betec Engineering's BLUEWAVE 300A cabinet solution and integrated cooling system best fulfilled the assessment criteria.
These criteria include:
- Originality/innovation/creativity of the solution
- Savings potential in the engineering process
- Savings potential due to component selection and combination
- Application potential in control and switching systems as well as mechanical engineering
This year's jury members were:
- Thomas Rilke, Hannover Messe
- Peter Michael Richter, German Engineering Federation (VDMA)
- Dr. Reinhard Hüppe, German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI)
- Kai Binder, Editor in Chief of SPS Magazin

At the end of March, the Chinese BLUEWAVE sales partner IN-Power hosted the first "IN-Power Electric Power Quality Conference" in Beijing. Over 200 participants from industry, building services engineering, and research accepted the invitation and gathered information on the topic of power quality, which is becoming increasingly important in China. Gao Sen from IN-Power presented the BLUEWAVE product family as the answer to all types of network disturbances. At the BLUEWAVE test stand, visitors could experience the capabilities of the new generation of active harmonic filters. Its short response times and little space requirement differentiate the BLUEWAVE active harmonic filter from conventional solutions. Gao Sen also demonstrated the possibility of using the integrated Ethernet interface to operate and monitor BLUEWAVE from a PC with the BLUETRACE software.
Technical lectures on power quality
In his speech, Liu Xun, representative of the National Technical Committee of Standardization (SAT/TC1), emphasized the importance of standards in the area of power quality. Professor Li Guojie from Tsinghua University gave a technical lecture in which he described the technical backgrounds of power quality. Along with basic explanations of harmonic oscillations and reactive power, the focus was primarily on the effects of poor network quality that affect all industries equally: malfunctions, increased wear, and production downtimes - disturbances that BLUEWAVE reliably combats. A dinner allowed an exchange of experience on all aspects of power quality. This conference was very well received by participants and was accompanied by a varied supporting program.

At the eltefa in Stuttgart, several companies presented BLUEWAVE to interested business visitors From September 26-28, sales partners Bürkle + Schöck, KBR, and Modl welcomed numerous visitors to their stands in hall 4 and convinced them of the active harmonic filter's superior features. Using model circuits, they demonstrated BLUEWAVE's performance under real conditions. The 300-amp BLUEWAVE industrial version was also shown for the first time. Sales partner Modl was the first to present this brand-new device to business visitors at a trade fair. With extremely short service times (MTTR < 15 minutes) and a high degree of protection (IP 54), the BLUEWAVE 300 A is perfectly suited for industrial applications. With a total exhibition space of 35,000 square meters, the booming electronics fair was held in the new Trade Fair Centre in Stuttgart for the first time. This year, the eltefa expanded again, with almost 26,000 visitors and over 400 exhibitors.
Along with the lower power variants, the BLUEWAVE active harmonic filter is now also available in an especially powerful industrial variant. With 300 A of filter current, the device has enormous power, enough to provide enough compensation current for even the very large electric consumers. The BLUEWAVE 300 A also has features which are particularly advantageous in rough production conditions: Thanks to its modular design and defined interfaces, the device can be serviced in a very short time (MTTR<15 minutes). The compact cabinet device in IP54 is ready to connect and guarantees the required level of protection for the electronics inside. Internal liquid cooling makes the product reliable and independent.
Just like the smaller 30 and 50-amp versions in IP20, the BLUEWAVE 300 A also provides incredibly fast compensation. A reaction time of 300 microseconds means that it compensates up to the 50th harmonic oscillation in close to real time. The device can also be monitored online via its own BLUETRACE software and conveniently operated via the display.

Nürtingen, Germany, 16.08.07. BLUEWAVE is now directly represented on the Chinese market. Our sales partner IN-Power is a specialist for power quality and offers the active harmonic filter to interested companies in China, along with appropriate on-site service. The demand for active harmonic filters is now increasing rapidly in the Asian market. Due to a fast-growing economy, more and more companies require reliability and a high standard of power quality. BLUEWAVE's capabilities impressed our importer through and through after a series of tests. IN-Power in Beijing sees a great market potential for this innovative technology.
Nürtingen, Germany, August 3, 2007. BLUEWAVE's sales partners provide technology insights: At their seminars, they teach engineers, planners, professional decision-makers and companies, and other interested parties about network quality. They provide well-founded basic knowledge covering technical and legal aspects. Practical examples, workshops, and live demonstrations complement the theoretical aspects. Here, it quickly becomes clear that companies should give good network quality top priority. Seminar participants find out more on the economic damage caused today by harmonic oscillations and reactive power and why problems with power supplies are constantly increasing. Lecturers also illustrate practical solutions for reducing harmonic oscillations, as well as reactive power compensation. Active harmonic filters such as BLUEWAVE play an ever increasing role in this.
Nürtingen, Germany, June 26, 2007. More and more power quality specialists recognize BLUEWAVE's potential as an intelligent solution for excellent network quality and include BLUEWAVE in their portfolios. In this way, specific solutions can be found for a wide variety of individual problems. BLUEWAVE also plays a key part in integral energy management solutions. Along with sales partners KBR in Schwabach and Bürkle + Schöck in Stuttgart, the firms Heldele, EMC Power Net Service and B&W TechComp now also offer competent problem-solving support to interested companies and institutions. EMC Power Net Service is located in Barleben in Saxony-Anhalt, helps locate disturbance sources in the supply network and eliminates them. Heldele, located in Salach, is an experienced specialist for electronic communication technology and offers solutions in the areas of building services engineering, IT, and automation technology, among others. B&W TechComp, based in St. Pölten, Austria, specializes in energy management and power quality, and now provides BLUEWAVE consulting, installation and service. The new partner companies show that the network of BLUEWAVE sales partners continues to grow. There are still plenty of opportunities for future system partners, also on the international level. This is to the benefit of potential BLUEWAVE customers who expect fast, competent service before, during and after installation.
